About Koji
Koji is an independent glass artist based in Santa Cruz, California. He grew up in San Jose and later moved to Santa Barbara to study physics, drawn to understanding how the world works beneath the surface. Over time, that curiosity evolved into a need for a more hands-on, expressive form of creativity—one that eventually led him to glass, where he immediately found a deep connection to the medium.
In 2008, Koji began a glassblowing apprenticeship in Berkeley, California, where he learned under the guidance of several master glassblowers. That experience laid the foundation for his practice, and after completing his apprenticeship a year later, he began working independently. For more than 15 years, Koji has continued to explore the medium, developing new techniques and refining his distinctive style.
Koji draws inspiration from technology, magic, nature, and the cosmos — spaces where logic and wonder overlap. Through glass, he aims to create work that balances simplicity and detail, resulting in pieces that feel refined yet imaginative.
